Information sheet for prospective and new members
Retford Bowling Green is a friendly club with bowling for all levels of ability.
Shoes and bowls can be borrowed to enable prospective members to try the game. Coaching is available early in the season.
FACILITIES: Club house with bar, kitchen and snooker room. The club house can be used for parties etc. at a cost of £30* to the member organising it.
BOWLING: There are eight rinks available and at the moment more than one hundred bowling members and many associate and social members. The fees at the present are £115* for Bowling members, £16* for Associate and Social members and £10* for Junior members.
LEAGUE BOWLING: Teams play in the EBA league and EBF league on Saturday afternoons, 4×2 A and B teams play on Thursday afternoons, Retford league plays in the evenings and Notts. league plays afternoons and evenings. In addition to these matches there are many friendly games which can be on any day of the week. The friendly games often involve a buffet or ham salad tea. We also play and entertain touring teams.
INTERNAL COMPETITIONS: These are held on some Sundays throughout the season either with own chosen teams or drawn from a hat. There are also drawn knockout out singles and doubles competitions through the season when members choose their own times to play. There is a folder for booking your rink.
TUESDAYS: The green is not available for play on Tuesday mornings.
Tuesday afternoons through the season are Ladies afternoons. Tuesday evenings are for Gents.
ROLL-UPS: Members are able to use the greens any day of the week for casual roll-ups, except Tuesday mornings.
SOCIAL EVENTS: Sometimes these include a start of season supper, Christmas and New Year parties. A Macmillan coffee morning is held at the end of September. The President’s dinner in October is combined with Presentation Evening. In winter there are Coffee Mornings every other Friday, Social Evenings on alternate Fridays, Games Afternoons on Wednesdays and Canasta Sessions every other Tuesday afternoon. There are short mat bowls sessions on Monday afternoons and Thursday evenings. The snooker room is also available to members.

MEMBERS HANDBOOK: A hand book is issued to all new members. This includes information on dress code, etiquette, rules of the club and management.
